CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURE IN MORAIRA

A corner overlooking the sea in Moraira, on the coast of Alicante, is the starting point of this project by Sergio Tomás's office. With the goal being an open, flowing, contemporary home, a partially diagonal building is planned on this plot, with views of the sea.

The façade has large pergolas, with a spectacular break in the line, which draws the eye almost like a vanishing point. The front contains the common area on the ground floor, and the first floor holds the most private area of the house, all while blurring the boundaries between inside and outside with the large openings in the facade. On the main floor, the interplay between the rooms and the terraces continues, with the living-dining room and the kitchen open to their corresponding outdoor rooms. The pedestrian access point on the opposite side of the house welcomes you in with a double height space. The concrete staircase sits next to this area, completely bathed in the natural light that filters through the lengthwise cuts made in the structure.

The flow of the space has been the determining factor in the layout of the house, which was designed for comfort. The architectural plans are based on in-depth studies of life by the sea, considering ideas such as living outdoors and storage needs. As an example, a ventilated room for seasonal furniture and textiles has been included. The rest of the house's needs and services are met in the semi-basement, which uses the slope of the terrain. It contains a sunken courtyard with water features, brining light and ventilation to the guest rooms. It also features a gym, a wine cellar, and a library, as well as a multi-car garage.
