CONTEMPORARY MEDITERRANEAN STYLE IN TEULADA

CONTEMPORARY MEDITERRANEAN STYLE IN TEULADA

This seaward-pointed house in Teulada seeks to integrate itself into the surrounding landscape without fanfare, with its round structure inserted into the hillside. It uses natural stone masonry wall base, and terraced walls which are typical of the shores of the Mediterranean.

The house is set out as a long space, in the centre of which is placed the double height area that will house the living room, creating a perspective directed towards the horizon and the sea. To one side we have an open plan dining room and kitchen, and on the other a TV room, as well as an office and a guest bedroom. On the first floor, facing this double height area, is the hallway, with the master bedroom, equipped with a bathroom and double dressing room, plus a guest bedroom with an ensuite bathroom.

After their lives have tajen them to different continents, the owners of this house were looking for a family home to settle down in, a space that meets to their needs but also accommodates the influences they have gathered from different parts of the globe. The plans match their lifestyle, and include a painting room, a gym, a library and an office, and includes pieces from their travels, as well as hints of architectural nuance, as with the semi-sunken patio, finished in an intense reddish tone like that popularised by Luis Barragán. This lower patio, which provides access to the rooms of the semi-basement, contains a fountain with three pipes.

The new and the eternal are merged in this house, finished with walls and pergolas plastered in white, enhancing the brightness and replicating the architecture of the area despite its rigorously contemporary style.
