HEXAGONAL HOUSE

"Explore and adapt the design of the space" - this special request from the client for this single-family home in Altea has given us the ability to break with convention by using a large box of weathering steel, in the shape of a hexagon, which hangs over the construction. Containing the master bedroom, this part of the house defines the project with its uniqueness. It creates an unusual space, contrasting the markedly horizontal nature of the main floor, which contains the front door, the kitchen, the dining room and living room, making it somewhat resemble a watchtower. The house is laid out to clearly separate the public and private areas, showcasing the shared area on the main floor which is open to the terrace which runs along the long edge building, as does the infinity pool. Out on the terrace, we created a stylised overhang, with a section at the end removed to accomodate the crown of a tree, creating an outdoor dining area.

The elevation of the terrain allows for a semi-basement, which houses an office, a garage and a gym, a range of purposes to match the owners' lifestyles. This semi-submerged floor is finished with natural stone and plant life, blending partly into the landscape.

Steel, concrete, stone and glass are the keys to this set of opposing volumes, in this unique, avant-garde home in Altea.
